Perhaps argue that we would make Dim Dim public for all of Champlain. Great way to communicate with the impeding swan flu of doom.

The other thing we could do is use the free Dim Dim or use the pay service if we need a large one up.

Nate are you interested in tweaking any configurations with this endeavor?

I'd be interested in configuring an ESX server, seems to be a great way to get us going on a few different servers and be able to really play around with controlling a network. We just need to make sure it can talk to the outside world. I know that we do have one that talks outside, whitmore.champlain.edu. Thats for the Networking classes. So adding this one to the outside world wouldn't be that big of a deal as long as we support our claims and Hoag goes along with helping us with convincing them.

we could prob get out, just not have a static IP. The issue becomes if they let us have any ports open.

I haven't been here in a few days, and I just saw the thing about my part in advertising... sorry about that. I'll try to get on that this afternoon. Do we have a date yet?

Guys,
We have a comcast Business Class cable connection with a static IP in the lounge at spinner place if I'm not mistaken...
Who lives within radio range of the 3rd floor lounge? It's there for student's and it IS a Business class connection,
so hosting stuff on it is well within the TOS....
Just a thought.

I'd also be happy to help with the running HL2 based servers, it went pretty smooth last year. Just a handful of meaningful commands
that are necessary to remember.

It would be sweet if we could get TF2 licenses, too. CS source is just getting
old and busted. I'll still play, but rolling heavy or spy is so much more fun.

I'm playing with DimDim at home just to see what it can do. The free version is limited to 25 people and only one webcam. The open source version allows as much as the server can handle.

Anyone here play Unreal Tournament? I was a UT2004 server admin for a while so I can set up a UT2004 server if there's enough interest.

No date has been set yet. The first step is setting up the ESXi server. I'll talk with Nate about that in class tomorrow.

The Spinner static IP its a good idea. Perhaps for game server perhaps something else.

Sounds like we have a lot to chat about. I'll setup a meeting for Sept 30th a Wednesday.

Oh and steam got back to me. 180$ a month for 20 machine licenses. so that about 600 a semester.
